After the onset of my bipolar disorder, one of the greatest challenges was understanding what my life was going to be like now that I had to deal with having the illness. There was a lot of information coming at me and I did not know how to deal with it. I was told I was going to be on medication for the rest of my life and I wondered what that meant and how my general health would be impacted by this change. I thought my life was essentially over and it would just be about survival until the day I died. I did not have the opportunity to speak to people who had bipolar disorder and were thriving nor did I have access to a panel of experts including psychiatrists, psychologists, researchers and people who had positive lives despite having bipolar disorder.
On World Bipolar Day, March 30, 2026, the CREST.BD network will host their 8th annual “Ask Me Anything”(AMA) on Reddit. It starts at 10:00am Pacific Time on March 30, 2026 (for more than 48 hours!)LINK: https://reddit.com/r/IAmA (AMA post will be up on March 30th) on r/IAmA on Reddit, a subreddit dedicated to question and answer events where anyone with a Reddit account can participate for free.
During the event, a diverse team of 80 expert researchers, clinicians, individuals with lived experience of bipolar disorder, and family members is coming together to answer questions about all aspects of bipolar disorder. All the questions that are posted will be read and answered by members of the team.
I have heard of this event before but I did not understand what it was because I did not know anything about Reddit. This year, I have been asked to be one of the panelist and I am overwhelmed at what a phenomenal event it is. If you use Reddit a lot you can start judging me now and I hope you participate in the event. If you don’t, there are some good YouTube videos that explain how to use it. But basically, when you click on the link above to the subreddit r/IAmA at the start of the event there will be posts from the u/CREST_BD Reddit account and you will see posts of questions asked to the panelist and the answers of some of the experts. Don’t be shy, come join in on the conversation!
